About Charles
I am a long time software developer who is hoping to show that structure and procedure are not polar opposites to innovation and creativity. For a good portion of my career I have watched and worked with developers who are missing the fundamentals of software development and are trying to push their products to milestones with sheer brute force. It is my hope that this area can be a safe area to discuss development 101 as well as the fun coding aspects that drew everyone into the industry in the first place.
To put it simply:
- I wish to promote elegant web application solutions based on solid designs, and executed with clean code.
- I wish to discourage the treatment of software development as black magic (a con) or a means to job security.
In my personal life:
- I am married, and living with three cats in northern Delaware.
- I like hiking and scuba diving (I would enjoy it more with some sinus surgery).
- I enjoy reading philsophy, business, and entrepreneurship books (aside the usual technical books).
